History Trust Peer Assessors Pool
The History Trust of South Australia peer assessors pool is a group of people with relevant experience in history, museums and or community history organisations that can be called upon to provide independent assessment of the two annual grant rounds administered by the History Trust.
Grant rounds
Each year the History Trust runs the South Australian History Fund and the Museums and Collections Project grant. The South Australian History Fund supports community and individual projects, publications and research. The Museums and Collections Project grant supports community history organisations with collections who are members of the Museums and Collections Development Program.

Responsibilities of Peer Assessors
If called upon peer assessors bring expertise and knowledge of South Australian history, interpretation and collections management to the History Trust’s grant assessment process. peer assessors are required to:
- Independently assess each grant application in the SmartyGrants management system.
- Maintain confidentiality about grant applicants and applications
- Rate and provide comment on the assessments forms regarding how well each application fits the assessment criteria
- Attend assessment panel meetings, either in person or virtually to agree on selections and outline any grant conditions.

Successful applicants will be provided with further information and an orientation session about History Trust grants and the assessment process, to ensure you have a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of being a peer assessor.
Successful applicants will be asked to complete a Peer Assessor Panel Agreement.
Peer Assessor Payment
Eligible assessors can receive payment for their services.
State and Federal Government employees are not eligible for payment.
How to apply
To apply complete this Expression of Interest form and attach an abridged curriculum vitae. Applications will be assessed by History Trust staff who will make a recommendation to the Chief Executive Officer for approval. Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email.
Successful applicants are under no obligation to take part in assessments if invited to do so.
